Maximize Your First Day Success: 10 Expert Tips for Seamless Onboarding!

Welcome to the team! Are you excited about your first day?

Navigating the unknowns of a new job can be nerve-wracking, but fear not! We’ve curated a list to ensure you start with confidence, a spirit of excellence, and readiness to succeed. From showing up early to embracing teamwork, our tips cover it all.

1. SHOW UP EARLY

You’ll want to leave early to account for traffic and give yourself ample time to find the Lead. Some sites are large, and locating your team can take a few minutes.

Check your job assignment and call your Lead if you have problems locating the site or your Lead.

2. EAT BREAKFAST

Eat a healthy and hearty breakfast, and bring a snack for later! Installing is physical labor, which means you will burn through calories.

A good breakfast will help feed your body and mind the energy they need.

Attitude

3. COME PREPARED

Be dressed in uniform, steel-toed shoes, and bring your tools!

4. SHOW INCENTIVE

Ask your Lead for Assignments. Follow-up with questions if assignments are unfamiliar.

Be motivated and ask if you can help other members of the team.

Ask questions! You will better understand your role by asking questions, and we will better understand how we can improve our training.

5. BE RESPECTFUL

We are a team, and everyone on our team is valued.

Treat your peers equally and with respect. We are all here to complete the job to the best of our ability.

6. BRING A PEN AND PAPER

This will allow you to take notes about the assigned job as well as write down questions you may have as the shift progresses.

A pocket-sized notepad is great to stash away in your back pocket.

7. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY

As a team member joining an organization geared towards professionalism, we keep our phones away during working hours unless you are being trained on our project management application.

8. BE A SPONGE

You’ll receive a lot of information on day one and throughout the next several weeks. Stay focused, and engaged, and soak up all the information your Lead and peers provide.

Attitude

9. ASK FOR TRAINING

As you become acclimated, ask your Lead for direction to our training videos and how to work your way into a training program that will (with some hard work and motivation) allow you to grow within our company.

10. RECAP AT THE END OF THE DAY

Talk to your Lead at the end of your first day. Ask for constructive criticism. Respect each individual as you want to be cared for and respected.

This grace will allow you to learn, grow, and reach your goals as you help the team achieve the project’s objectives.
